Manado’s local food, also known as
Minahasan food. Manadonese food is very famous throughout Indonesia. You cannot
say you’ve been in Manado unless you have tried the exotic foods served across
the country. Some of them are served quite obviously. You can tell by the look
of it if it’s a dish you’ve already tried, are willing to try, or you won’t
ever dare to. Others, though, look like a regular dish.
Find out what these dishes are and
decide early on if you want to pass or would you rather tickle your taste buds
and satiate your adventurous appetite with Manado most shocking exotic
foods ;)
1. Bat (Paniki)
If you want to become a BATMAN maybe you can try to eat Bat
/Paniki lol… this dish made from
fruit bat.
Before being cooked in spices, usually the bats are burned to remove its soft
hairs, then cooked in coconut milk, herbs and spices. Other than
cooked in coconut milk, paniki is also cooked in spicy rica-rica, a mixture of
various herbs with chili pepper
2. Mouse (Kawok)
Oh yeah here it is Rats
what???? I know you guys might ask why they eat rats as rats is dirty animal!!!
ok here I will explain more about it.
The other name of " kawok " is the white-tailed wood
rats . White tail is what specifically
distinguishes the home or street rats . Kawok easily
obtained if there are hunters returning
from the woods . They get these mice in large trees such
as palm trees (trees saguer ) .
Community processing meat ( without tail ) , with
flavored concoction stem onions, basil ,
lemongrass , chili , ginger , lemon grass , turmeric ,
coconut head.I can say this kind of rats
is a vegetarian rats ;)

3. Cat
(Kucing)
Im sorry to say this but 40%
Manadonesse they eat cat -_-‘ not include me as im a cat
lover :( .
They will cook the cat with the same process like they
cook the rats with flavored concoction stem onions, basil,lemongrass ,
chilli , ginger , lemon grass, turmeric , coconut head.
4. Monkey (Monyet)
The people here also eating
Monkeys. The brain of monkeys cooked in a way made soup and monkey body they
will cook with flavored concoction stem
onions, basil , lemongrass , chilli , ginger, lemon grass , turmeric more spicy
more tasty (I don’t like this food -_-‘)
